When a Canadian equipment manufacturer and a U.S. based sand and gravel company needed an operations control centre, NRB provided an innovative solution to house the equipment and oversee the facility.

The two storey steel building was built with each floor having three walls fitted out 30 degrees to provide panoramic viewing of the area below. The building required extensive engineering, with the roof of the building being almost twice the size of the finished floor area.

In addition to the building envelope, NRB provided all of the work stations to house the control equipment, along with a washroom on each level, full electrical package and a ductwork system for the owner installed HVAC unit.

The building was shipped to the U.S. in four sections and offloaded and craned into place on an elevated structural steel base by the end user.

This control centre won an award for the best special multi-wide unit in the 1997 building design competition of the Modular Building Institute - an association of U.S., Canadian and other international modular builders and suppliers.
