A complete design and build solution for a permanent addition to an existing school was requested by our client, the Halton Board of Education. NRB was responsible for all design and construction elements of the addition, as well as modifications to the existing school building. Although made with the intent of being a permanent building, some modules were designed to be able to be removed and stand alone, or to work as a smaller complex, should enrolment shift.

The building features steel and concrete non-combustible construction, created of varying sized modules allowing it to fit precisely into the corner of the school. The addition connects seamlessly into the adjacent school at floor area, with steps up to the existing school in another. To allow continuity of a fire exit, a modification to the existing school was made of two roof modules with pre-poured concrete slabs.
