What's New

The NRB “off-site” modular construction project delivery method is a greener, more sustainable alternative to site-built construction.

Green Building is becoming an increasingly widespread, worldwide initiative as we strive to improve our environment and protect our resources. Following the USGBC LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) roadmap to sustainability, it becomes apparent that modular construction methodology can provide inherent green advantages over conventional construction, making this project delivery method a more environmentally responsible alternative.

Shorter Process, Cleaner Sites, Less Waste to Landfills, Less Site Disturbance, Less Vehicular Traffic, Less Neighborhood Noise & Disruption

Building with modular construction technology means

  • The entire facility is constructed off-site at our plant under controlled conditions, at the same time as on-site preparation and foundations occur, resulting in an overall construction schedule that can be reduced by 50% or more.
  • The building is delivered to site as much as 95% completed, further reducing on-site time and activity.

More Sustainable sites

  • Significantly shorter on-site construction time means less disruption to the existing facility and surrounding community.
  • Deliveries to the site are lessened and workforce is lower, reducing vehicular traffic, resulting in decreased greenhouse gas emissions and site activity and congestion.
  • Less construction waste and debris means better diversion from landfill sites
  • Less construction activity on site means reduced site disturbance with fewer construction pollutants.

More Efficiency with Materials and Resources

  • Manufacturing processes improve diversion from disposal. Materials that are left over from one project under construction at the plant can often be used on another project underway at the same time, or can be re-inventoried for use another time. Materials left over at a construction site are sent to landfill.
  • Manufacturing plants have established QA programs and recyclling initiatives in place at the plant where the building is constructed.
  • Modular technology allows up to 100% recycle and reuse by it’s ability to relocate the facility to an alternate location if it is no longer needed. This means that a new building does not have to be constructed while another remains unoccupied.

Better Site Safety & Security

The reduced activity as a result of shortened schedules and pre-built modules help improve site safety and security, two of the biggest challenges faced by on-site construction.
